The VE2DX Electronics CT17B X Series family of hubs is key to the interconnection of your XIEGU HF RADIOS, ICOM Radios, or other ICOM or non-ICOM OEM devices!

 WHY?

 CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) is used not only to automate a radio station but also for simple OEM devices (Steppir, amps, tuner, band decoders, etc.) to be linked to your radio.

Will it work with my XIEGU HF Radio?

YES! XIEGU HF RADIOS use ICOM CI-V, which is connected via either a 3.5mm mono audio jack (X5105), 3.5mm TRRS multifunction jack (X6100), or MiniDin connector for the G90 and G106.

What is CI-V?

ICOM CI-V is a computer protocol, an electronic standard, and a physical standard for linking ICOM and XIEGU HF RADIOS to other XIEGU, ICOM, or OEM CI-V compatible devices. 

Isn't CI-V an ICOM proprietary protocol?

YES! It is also a widely used CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) protocol and hardware standard in the Ham community.

CI-V protocol and Hardware are available from hundreds of HAM radio manufacturers and hobbyists worldwide. Will it work on my older ICOM radio?

 Yes, the VE2DX Electronics CT17B X Series products will work on ANY ICOM RADIOS since the 1980s IC-735 to the newer 7300, 7610, and 9700.

What features do you offer?

 The VE2DX Electronics CT17B X Series as;

- Possible USB data support (CT17B-6USBX and CT17B-7DMX).

- Possible Bluetooth support (CT17B-6BTX and CT17B-7DMX).

- TrueTTL is a combination of very high RFI filtering on ALL signals, power sources, and Grounds and an auto-leveling design that ensures the out signals on all five ports are always at MAXIMUM TTL levels.

- All VE2DX Electronics PCBs are ALWAYS fully shielded on both sides.

Do you make these yourself? 

 This is an easy question... ME! All electronics design, PCB design, and firmware are made by US and no one else! VE2DX Electronics is a proud Canadian Company; we make all our products ourselves.

Are there any issues I should know of with using XIEGU CI-V

Yes, there are! XIEGU CAT is said to be using ICOM CI-V Standards, well, almost!

According to XIEGU documentation, all their HF radios with CI-V are ALWAYS configured as ICOM IC-7100, CI-V Address 88, at a speed of 19.2kbps. The 19.2kbps is major since radios like IC-705 can only be attached to other CI-V Devices at 9600bps. Thus, all the other CI-V devices connecting to the 705 MUST be at 9600bps.

Please also note that according to some postings, the CI-V command sets for the XIEGU HF Radios were expanded to match the IC-705 command sets. This was not confirmed.

!!! Warning !!!

XIEGU CI-V ports are notoriously challenging to get operational, and there are NO known configuration settings to help with this. VE2DX Electronics Design Inc. DO work according to XIEGU specifications, but we will not be held responsible for XIEGU's arduous setup issues with their radio; know that IF the CT17B XSeriess hub is correctly plugged into the correct XIEGU adapter or cable, our CT17B X Series WILL work.

Are there any limitations?

XIEGU imposes a fixed CI-V configuration on their HF Radio, which emulates IC-7000 at 19.2kbps. This means your application and peripheral MUST comply. Because of the 19.2Kbps, you can not link an IC-705 to your CT17B X Series CI-V hub since the IC-705 is also a fixed configuration at 9600bps.

However, you can still use the IC-705 with our CT17B original product line.
