A simple Bluetooth interface for your YAESU radio
The VE2DX Electronics YC series of Yaesu Bluetooth interfaces is an ultra-small, simple interface for your FT-100, FT-8X7, FT-818, and NOW FT-710 Yaesu radios to communicate over Bluetooth your CAT from the radio.
The YK1-BT supports most radios with standard RS232c DB9-Male CAT, from the FT-450 to the newer FTDX series.
WHY?
CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) is used not only to automate a radio station but also for simple OEM devices (Steppir, amps, tuner, band decoders, etc.) or applications to be linked to your radio.
Will it work on my older radio?
Well, the YC Series of VE2DX Electronics Design Inc. Bluetooth devices will work on any YAESU radios using the MiniDin 8 pins for CAT; these are the FT-100, FT-817, FT-718ND, FT-818, FT-857, FT-897 and FT-710.
And! If the YC2-BT is not for you, the YK1-BT will support most Kenwood YAESU with an RS232c DB9 CAT connector, going even further than the FT-450 and up to the newer FTDX series.

This is an easy... YES! We design all electronics and firmware, and no one else does! VE2DX Electronics is a proud Canadian Company; we produce all our products.
The YC1-BT and YC2-BT are CAT Bluetooth Wireless, self-powered CT-62 compatible interfaces. It will, just like a CT-62, let you interface your FT-100, FT-817, FT-857, FT-897, or FT-710 with your computer, laptop, tablet, or even cell phone!
A very Small form factor plugs into the back of your radio and is directly powered by the radio.
The YC2-BT is an evolution of the YC1-BT now with VE2DX TrueTTL/TrueCAT Technology. It will, just like a CT-62, let you interface your FT-100, FT-817, FT-857, FT-897, or FT-710 with your computer, laptop, tablet, or even cell phone!
The YC Series devices are very user-friendly and almost Plug-and-play.
1- Turn Off and Disconnect your radio from the 12VDC power Source.
2- Plug your YC1-BT or YC2-BT in the 8-pin Mini-Din connector in the back of your radio.
3- Plug your radio in the 12VDC power source and power it on.
4- The VE2DX LOGO on your YC or the LED window at the end of the device will be flashing.
5- Change your CAT speed to 9600 in your radio's menu.
(option 14 in 817 and 818, Option 19 in 857 and 897, etc...)
6- Now Pair your YC to your PC (Note: even when paired, the VE2DX LOGO will still be flashing until the radio is connected to an application)
7- Identify your new Com ports and connect to them your application (Note: Windows10 creates 2 Com ports. Only one can be used. You may need to test both)
8- run your application. Once the radio is connected to the application, will your YC VE2DX LOGO or LED window be turned on in all its GLORY :P
The YK1-BT is a low-cost RS-232c DB9 compatible CAT BlueTooth interface with VE2DX TrueTTL/TrueCAT Technology. It will work and interface your FT-450 up to the newer FTDX series. And let you link it with your computer, laptop, tablet, or even cell phone!

Thank you, Mr. Gates!
Well, Windows is Weird, and this is an understatement.
When you link a Bluetooth serial port in Windows, it creates 2 Bluetooth Com ports, BUT only one can be used!
Here is a step-by-step.
1- Make sure your YC or YK devices are powered on.
2- in the Windows 10 taskbar, type "Bluetooth" and hit enter.
3- at the top of the "Bluetooth and other devices" page, click the + sign next to "Add Bluetooth or other devices."
4- Click on Bluetooth
5- this can take a couple of minutes; look for a new device named
"-VE2DX YC1-BT-", "-VE2DX YC2-BT-",or "-VE2DX YK1-BT-" click on it. You will get a confirmation that it is pairing.
6- enter the password "1234" and hit Connect. And you are paired!
7- Open Device Manager via your Control Panel.
8- Open the "Ports (Com & LPT)"
9- you will now have two new Com Ports (yes, 2!) called "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link." take note of both Com port numbers.
10- in your application, you WILL have to test both ports; only one will work (Thanks again, Bill!! ;P ).
Note: the VE2DX Logo will keep flashing until an application is connected to the Com Port.
Thank you, Simon!
Okay, now that we have the radio linked to Windows 10, here is how you would link your radio to HRD. In this example, we are using HRD 6, Yaesu FT817ND, and the VE2DX YC1-BT.
1- Power up your 817ND and make certain the YC1-BT VE2DX LOGO is flashing GREEN.
Note: We are assuming here that you have already paired your YC1-BT to your Windows 10 and that your FT-817 was properly configured to 9600 in menu 14.
2—Start HRD. In the Radio configuration page, select NEW + YAESU + FT-817 + Com port and 9600.
Note: If the first Com Port you tried above does not work, redo with the second Com Port.
3- Your done, HRD should be connected to your FT-817.
4- if appropriately connected, your YC1-BT VE2DX LOGO will be ON solid GREEN.
While getting our YC2-BT ready for Dayton release, we dropped our pricing of the YC1-BT to sell our leftover stock.
